Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to Martens & Meijer's FAQ. On this page you will find answers to the most common questions about our services, working methods and practical matters. Is your question not listed here? Feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help you further.
How exactly does a sandblast work?
A sandblasted mirror has a frosted finish that is created by blowing a fine jet of sand under high pressure across the glass surface. We use this to make parts of the mirror matte, such as a border or a graphic pattern. The sandblast edge is whitish in color, does not absorb light and does not reflect, creating a modern, calm look. Even when the mirror's lighting is on, the sandblasted edge remains subtly visible.
Can I order custom mirrors from you?
Yes, we provide stock models as well as full customization. You can choose what size, shape (round, oval, rectangular, organic), color temperature, finish and mounting best suits your project. Ideal for bathrooms, hotels, interior design stores or stores. We actively think along in the preliminary process and deliver quickly.
What is the difference between neutral white, warm white and cold white light?
The color temperature of LED lighting is expressed in Kelvin (K). Warm white (2700K-3000K) gives an atmospheric, yellow glow - similar to an incandescent bulb. Neutral white (4000K) is brighter and more natural, ideal for bathrooms and practical rooms. Cold white (6000K) is very bright and tends toward blue; this is often used in medical or industrial applications. Our standard color is 4000K, but we supply other temperatures upon request.
Are your mirrors dimmable?
Some models are dimmable, this depends on the chosen version. For mirrors with integrated touch controls or external dimmable drivers, this is possible. For project use (such as hotel rooms) we also offer solutions with wall dimmers or external switches. We are happy to advise you on the right options.
Can I connect the mirror directly to the mains?
a, all our mirrors are supplied with a safe 230V connection, usually with a ready-made connecting cable or terminal block. For wall installation, often only a switch or sensor is needed. The exact connection is always listed in the technical data sheet we provide for each model.
What is the IP rating of your mirrors?
Our mirrors are IP44 certified as standard. This means they are splash-proof and suitable for use in damp areas such as bathrooms. On request, we can also supply models with higher IP ratings (such as IP65) for areas where direct water contact is possible.
How is a mirror mounted?
All mirrors come with a clear mounting system: often metal brackets or adjustable hanging hooks. Most models are suitable for both horizontal and vertical placement. Custom mirrors can also be supplied with invisible mounting or special hanging rails for projects.
Are your mirrors suitable for use in hotels or public areas?
Yes, we regularly supply hotels, offices, chain stores and wellness centers. Our mirrors are designed with durability, ease of maintenance and style in mind. Plus, we can shift gears on a project-by-project basis in customization, series production and short lines of coordination.
Can you also supply mirrors with heating?
Yes, we can also supply mirrors with integrated mirror heating. This heating prevents condensation, especially in bathrooms. The heating is often combined with a separate switch or automatic system. Please inquire about the possibilities when customizing.
What shapes of mirrors can I choose?
We supply mirrors in virtually any shape: rectangular, square, round, oval or organic. Our most popular shapes currently are round and oval, with a minimalist finish or integrated lighting.
Do you also supply mirrors with touch controls?
Yes, several models feature touch controls. With these, you can turn the lights on and off or dim them with a light touch on the glass. Touch buttons are often subtly incorporated into the design. For business applications, we can also provide switching systems without touch.
What materials do you use for the mirror edge and finish?
Most mirrors have a polished glass edge or sandblasted finish. For custom work, we can also work with black frames, aluminum profiles or indirect LED lighting behind the glass. Everything is produced with high-quality materials that are long-lasting and resistant to moisture.
How long will a mirror from Martens & Meijer last?
Our mirrors are designed for long-term use. The LED lighting lasts an average of 30,000 to 50,000 hours, depending on use and type. The mirror itself is made of high-quality float glass with a durable anti-corrosion coating, especially suitable for humid environments.
Do you also offer installation or service support?
We supply clear installation instructions as standard. But we can also provide support during installation or think along in technical coordination. We are available for questions during and after delivery. A service model is also negotiable for business customers.
